Smoke and Murders is a novel about a real crime that happened in Vinton, Virginia in the fall of 1994. The murder of the Hodges family, mother, father, two children, ages three and eleven were all killed. All were shot in the head except the mother, who was strangled and then set on fire after being doused with kerosene and benzene. These fluids were found in a storage unit behind their garage.
The house didn’t burn because all of the windows in the house had been closed and the fire was oxygen starved. The mother was the only one that burned and even she was found to be lying on some of her clothing. She was wearing only a pair of turquoise panties, her shorts were laying across the room.
The immediate suspect was their friend of many years and no other suspects were even considered even though it looked like a typical drug killing. It was obvious from reading the newspaper accounts of the crime that none of the investigators wanted to pursue that possibility. Even a mention of that would bring on strong denials.
There wasn’t enough evidence to convict their prime suspect so they made up what was lacking. Even getting the firearms examiner to commit perjury in saying the gun found at the scene was the murder weapon. He later admitted he lied but it was too late to save the person arrested and falsely convicted from being electrocuted for the crime. Electrocution was the choice of execution because he wanted the people to see the horrible way he died as a remembrance to his claims of innocence.
I have been running a website for over ten years accusing the people that murdered this man of lying and making up evidence to get a conviction in the case. Even though I name names and put their pictures on the website none have contacted me saying I was wrong. I can understand that because what I put on the website showing they falsely convicted the man are the very words they spoke and are court record.
There are various family members of the victims that contact my guest book of the website and say all sorts of things and I don’t understand why they don’t want the actual killer, or killers, caught and brought to justice,.
I have written two books in an effort to bring more publicity to this injustice and I hope someday some television program will look into this trial and show just what a farce it was. You can see all the details at http://allamosa.com It takes about an hour to read the entire site but you will be amazed that someone this day and time can be railroaded by a few crooked cops and attorneys.
This novel continues the story that was started in the Town of Vinyard and the characters you met there.
At the same time this is a stand alone novel. It is complete even if you know nothing about Smoke and Murders.
It also has five star ratings in Amazon.com Read the reviews of both novels there.
